Networking with Students

Industry partners play an integral role in our undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral programs and often begin engagement through one or more of our networking opportunities. These opportunities make great impacts on our students resulting in mutually beneficial exchanges. If you are interested in participating in any of these outreach opportunities, please contact us. We look forward to working with you.

Dinner with Industry

At this bi-annual networking, Industry professionals (10-15 people) come to UCSB to have dinner with undergraduates in early research experiences during the summer (including UCSB Freshmen, and Community College Students) or with undergraduates is advanced scholar programs during the academic year (October-June).  For an hour, students rotate in small groups between various industry professionals providing an informal setting for casual mentoring and intellectual discussions.

Career Seminars

These talks are often heavily subscribed to by students eager to learn about various career paths within industry from those who can provide candid insight and advice. We host these seminars on campus throughout the year and either for an audience of undergraduates or graduate students and postdocs. The seminar format is very flexible and allows for 20-30min of presentation and 30min of Q&A.

Site Visit

There is constant demand from students to tour industry sites and this opportunity allows 10-15 UCSB undergraduates, visiting undergraduates and local community college students to learn about a company and their facilities from an inside perspective. These tours can be arranged during the summer or the academic year and are typically 2-3hrs in length, though can be tailored by each hosting company.

Student Testimonials

"It was great meeting and discussing all the paths that life has available with Ethan. I truly appreciate this experience. Thank you Raytheon!!" - Ugochukwu Nze (B.S. Physics)

“My Raytheon mentor prompted me to think about how I carry myself when I interact with others and its effects on my professional goals. The Raytheon mentorship not only gave me immediate guidance, but helped me set my sights for the following years. I hope Raytheon continues the program in the future! I wholly believe that it was engaging and worthwhile.” - Andrew Tran (B.S. Computer Science)
